La Bandera Social

Late weekend nights with family and music

A Dominican bachata social shaped by late nights with family — music playing, stories being told, and a little bit of chisme in the background.

The nights we grew up with

La Bandera is built around the kinds of spaces many of us grew up around — music up, conversations going, people dancing, eating, laughing, and spending time together.

It’s a relaxed space to dance, hang out, and be around people who enjoy the music.

House Rules

Respect the Dance

Ask before dancing. Respect the “no.” Keep it traditional — no sensual, no body rolls.

Be Responsible

This isn’t a club night — if you’re drinking, be responsible and stay in control.

Be Mindful

Keep your partner safe. Be aware of your hands, your space, and your movement.

Lead with Care

Leaders aren’t just leads — take care of the people around you on and off the floor.

Protect the Space

If something feels off, say something. We look out for each other here.

Don’t Forget to Be Social

Have fun and don’t take yourself too seriously. Meet someone new, invite someone in, and keep the floor welcoming.

This is a small, connected community.

How you show up here matters.

FAQ

Can I come alone?

Absolutely. A lot of people come on their own, and the space is built to feel easy to step into whether you come solo or with friends.

Is this beginner-friendly?

Yes. You do not need to be an advanced dancer to come. The goal is social dancing, good music, and creating a space that feels welcoming and relaxed.

What kind of music do you play?

Mostly traditional and Dominican bachata throughout the night, with some salsa and merengue mixed in. The focus is social dancing, musical connection, and keeping the music rooted in the culture that shaped it.

Is there food and drinks?

Yes. Food and drinks are available on both floors throughout the night. We also keep the space intentionally limited so people still have room to dance, move around, and stay comfortable.

Is there a dress code?

No formal dress code. Just come comfortable, respectful, and aware that you’ll be dancing and sharing space with other people throughout the night.

Why Juniper?

Juniper is centrally located near Penn Station, which makes it easy for people from different parts of the city and surrounding areas to meet in one place. We were also fortunate enough to build this with people we already trusted, which helped shape the atmosphere from the beginning.
