Code of Conduct
How we show up, move, and treat each other in this space.
This is Dominican dance—have fun, joke, don’t take yourself too seriously. But we’re still sharing space, bodies, and energy. This only works if everyone feels comfortable being here, so there are a few things we all follow to keep it that way.
Respect the Dance
-
Ask before dancing and accept a “no” without pressure. No one owes anyone a dance.
Be Present
-
Dance for connection, not performance. Keep it about the music and the person in front of you—not ego or attention.
Keep It Safe
-
No racism, sexism, homophobia, or behavior that makes others feel unsafe. Cross the line and you’ll be asked to leave.
Be Aware
-
Pay attention to your hands, your space, and your movement. Take responsibility for how you affect others on the floor.
Lead with Care
-
Leaders guide, not control. Take care of your partner and the people around you.
Protect the Space
-
If something feels off, say something. This is a small community, and we all play a part in keeping it safe and welcoming.
Show up with respect, take care of each other, and leave the space better than you found it.
