Our Approach
Learning rooted in culture, built like practice.
We don’t teach routines. We don’t chase performances. We teach the way Dominicans actually learn: through rhythm, family, and play. Classes feel like practice, not rehearsal — with drills, games, and repetition that build skill while keeping the joy alive.
I didn’t grow up in a studio. My background was sports, not choreography — so I teach with a coach’s mindset, bridging Dominican culture with the structure and clarity that help dancers grow. The result is a space that feels authentic, social, and empowering.
The Six Teaching Pillars
A framework that shapes every class and keeps us true to the culture.
Start With Rhythm, Not Rules
Your first language is the beat. Instead of leading with posture critiques or abstract counts, we train your ear and body to move with the music. Rhythm comes first; everything else follows naturally.
1
Keep It Real, Keep It Clear
We skip the jargon and use cues you’ll actually remember and feel. Simple, playful, and rooted in the fundamentals — so the lessons stick and the dance stays fun.
4
The Team Sport Model
We treat class like practice, not performance. Drills, scrimmages, and rotations keep everyone moving. You grow by getting your reps in, supporting others, and learning as a team.
2
Teach in Layers
Like tres golpes on a plate, every move has layers: technique, style, and energy. We revisit each step with new focus, adding flavor and feeling over time instead of dumping it all at once.
5
Build Believers, Not Dancers
Every class should give you a win you can feel right away. We celebrate effort over polish, and we explain why something works so you leave trusting your body, your rhythm, and your style.
3
Play, Explore, Adapt
Games, drills, and improvisation unlock movement. We adjust to the room, give multiple ways in, and build from what each student brings. Everyone contributes — and everyone grows.
